wraithlings:

“All I really want is for someone to touch my mouth and mean it. I dance in dangerous fables, walk a woods with trees white as bone. It’s always winter and I’m always pressing my face against something warm with blood. I know how men love to give answers, tell stories. In this one, the girl dies in reverse – laughs then births an arrow from her chest. Later, I find my body bathed in glass; grey light swims lazy across my skin, a kind of honey. The clouds surrender then weep. In this endless soft of snow, I lack the patience to haunt. Instead, I hunt, every footstep a grief. I touch my hands to my lips. I leave nothing in my wake. I never ask the same question twice.”

things that house buying/renovation shows made me realize about the world:

murphels:

– everyone hates carpets. no one wants their feet to be comfortable. no one wants them to be warm. no one wants to be able to lounge on the floor. they all want to throw their back out on hardwood.
– everyone hates walls. i thought that houses having walls was normal, but everyone wants the only walls to be around the bathrooms and the bed rooms. children cannot leave your sight or they will be sucked into oblivion. you need to be able to see through the entire house and into hell.
– people demand double vanities. when you’re a couple, apparently you have to use the bathroom in tandem. you get shackled together and you’re brushing your teeth at the same time, there are no other options available so you NEED two sinks.
– showers must be separate from the tub. not counting people with disabilities and the elderly, i don’t understand why people can’t stand in a tub and take a shower. my whole life i thought tub showers were normal but apparently they are for peasants who don’t deserve to do cartwheels in their 10 by 10 shower stall.
– people don’t have kitchen tables, they have islands. they need them for cooking prep, which is impossible to do at a table. they also need them to eat at in absurdly tall stools, despite the fact that the breakfast nook is 10 feet away and the dining room table is 15 feet away through their open floor plan.
– stainless steel appliances are the powerhouse of the home.

Reasons why tonight was actually good:

1. WE TOOK BACK THE MOTHERFUCKING HOUSE. Look, in a perfect world we would have flipped the Senate too BUT this means that things are not just going to materialize for our dear friend Donald McTrump. This means oversight and investigations and a better grip from our legislative branch on a system wide check and balance. BOOM.

2. The fact that we got so close in states that Republicans have been gerrymandering the fuck out of for YEARS now is actually really impressive and it just means that we have to keep working but we’re whittling away at things. It can be done, is what I’m saying.

3. SO. MUCH. DIVERSITY. Women in record numbers! People of different faiths, younger people, native people, LGBT people, gang’s all here! We’re slowly dissolving the old white dudes in power thing.

4. So many AMAZING proposals are passing. Massachusetts upheld trans rights. Florida restored voting rights. Michigan legalized marijuana AND took the most comprehensive voting reform IN THE FUCKENING COUNTRY AND MADE IT LAW!

Good things are happening. They are. They. Are.

We just have to keep going.

This is really nice work……..                                                                                via Art LOVER

THAT’S how you make lace??

And THIS is why lace was a worn primarily by royalty and aristocracy for so many centuries..  It was expensive and time-consuming to produce.  Wearing it, and wearing LOTS of it was a blatant show of wealth and excessive consumption.

Mechanically-produced lace wasn’t really a thing until well into the 20th century, but there remains a wide gap between the quality of  mass-produced and hand crafted

In general textile arts are highly underated considering the amount of skill and time needed to execute pretty much anything.
